Art camp at the Butler
YOUNGSTOWN -- Openings are still available for the Butler Institute of American Art's Summer Art Day Camp July 15-18 and July 22-25.
The program offers a hands-on experimental approach to learn about visual art, music, drama and dance.
The camp is for children ages 8 to 12 who do not have the opportunity to participate in other summer camp activities because of physical or financial difficulties.

Academy appointments
YOUNGSTOWN -- U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, announced these appointments to U.S. military academies: George Edward Bruchs and Daniel J. Mikus of Ursuline High School, and John R. Palmer of Maplewood High School in Mecca to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and John G. Shaffo of Chaney High School to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.
