YWCA seeks nominees for awards

A new achievement award has been added to this year's program.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Nominations are being accepted for the YWCA of Youngstown's annual Women of the Year awards recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding women in the Mahoning Valley.
The awards will be presented to no more than 10 women who will be recognized as "Women of Achievement."
Selection will be based on leadership through service to community or career, positive impact on the community and role as a mentor to other women.
Candidates must either reside or work in the Mahoning Valley and be sponsored by an organization, group or business. Nominations must be postmarked by Aug. 18. All nominations will be reviewed and selected by an independent panel of judges.
A new component, Women of Professional Excellence, will be added this year. That award provides businesses with the opportunity to recognize the contributions of exceptional women within their organization. Deadline for award sponsorship is Sept. 5.
