Sharon woman faces charges including attempted homicide

SHARON, Pa. -- Deanne Goodnight, 40, of Bechtol Avenue faced arraignment today on attempted murder and other charges.
Police said she broke into her estranged husband's home in the 200 block of Cedar Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday and attempted to attack both him and a woman there with a hunting knife.
She fled when they called 911 for help, and police caught her running down Prindle Street a few minutes later.
There was a brief standoff when she refused to drop the knife she was carrying but she did finally drop the weapon, police said, adding that she then fought with officers trying to arrest her.
Goodnight suffered a cut on her right wrist when she broke into her husband's house, police said. She was treated at Sharon Regional Health System.
She was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime and aggravated harassment by a prisoner. She was held overnight for arraignment.
