CLEVELAND -- Penny Taylor scored a season-high 22 points and Betty Lennox had 21 as Cleveland built a 24-point halftime lead and went on to beat Washington.
The Rockers (11-11) set a franchise record by scoring 55 points in the first half. The 89 points was the most Cleveland has scored this year.
Taylor was 8-of-11 from the field and had a team high nine rebounds and five assists for Cleveland while Lennox was 9-of-14.
Taylor scored 17 points in the first half as Cleveland hit 63 percent of its shots.
Chasity Melvin's layup with 14:51 left in the first half broke a 6-6 tie and started a 23-6 run that gave the Rockers a 29-12 lead. Cleveland widened the lead to 55-31 at the half.
Melvin finished with 12 points. LaToya Thomas scored 16 for Cleveland.
Chamique Holdsclaw led the Mystics (5-17) with 16 points and six rebounds. Coco Miller scored 15 and Jocelyn Penn had 12 points for Washington.
Comets 61, Liberty 53
HOUSTON -- Tina Thompson scored 20 points and Janeth Arcain added 14 as the Houston Comets won their third straight.
The Liberty rallied in the second half, going on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 39 with 9:46 remaining.
But Houston (12-8) regrouped and went on a 10-3 run to take a 49-42 lead with 3:43 to go. New York (9-11) never threatened again.
Arcain went 7-of-9 from the floor, scoring 10 of her points in the second half. Second-year center Michelle Snow added 10 points and five rebounds.
Houston has won seven of its last eight games and five straight at home.
Vickie Johnson scored 14 points and Tari Phillips had 16 rebounds to lead New York, which has lost three straight away from home.
