Firestone Park gears up for arts festival

COLUMBIANA -- Nearly 300 antique dealers, craftsmen and fine artists will exhibit at the Harvey S. Firestone Park Festival of the Arts, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the park.
The 21st annual festival will be held rain or shine. Although there is no admission charge, there is a $3 charge for parking.
Antique dealers, craftsmen and fine artists attend by invitation only.
The festival is the largest fund-raiser for the park, with past proceeds used for projects such as new pavilions or restroom facilities.
There will be entertainment throughout the day, and a variety of food will be offered by area churches, civic organizations and independent vendors.
The first festival was in 1983, the 50th anniversary of the park opening.
Firestone, born in 1868 on the family homestead just outside Columbiana, deeded 60 acres to the village in 1933 for the development of a park and recreational center. Firestone Park is off Park Avenue on the city's east side.
