CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Allison Feaster scored 18 points and Charlotte snapped a three-game losing streak. Andrea Stinson added 14 points for the Sting, who are 4-0 against the Eastern Conference-leading Shock this season. Ruth Riley scored 16 points for Detroit, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Elaine Powell added 14 points for the Shock, while Swin Cash had 10.
Sparks 82, Mercury 65
LOS ANGELES -- Nikki Teasley had 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds and Los Angeles tied a WNBA record by going 27-of-27 from the free throw line. The Sparks improved to a league-best 18-5 despite All-Star center Lisa Leslie missing her fifth straight game with a sore knee and guard Tamecka Dixon missing her third in a row with a strained left knee. Plenette Pierson scored 12 points for Phoenix, which lost its sixth straight and fell to a league-worst 3-17. The now-defunct Portland Fire also made all 27 of their free throws on July 28, 2001, against the Sparks.

WASHINGTON -- Tamika Catchings scored 29 points to lead Indiana over Washington despite Chamique Holdsclaw's career-high 34 points. Holdsclaw, who made 10 of 16 shots, also grabbed nine rebounds. Stacey Dales-Schuman, who scored 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting, pulled the Mystics to 78-75 with a 3-pointer off the glass with 26 seconds left. Natalie Williams had 16 points, and Kelly Schumacher 10 for the Fever.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Tangela Smith scored 12 points and Sacramento closed the game with a 16-4 run for its fourth win in five games under interim coach John Whisenant. Vickie Johnson had 11 points and eight rebounds for New York, which rallied from a nine-point deficit to cut Sacramento's lead to 51-49 with 3:40 remaining.
