NILES -- Trumbull County Help Me Grow is offering the Teddy Bear Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Cafaro Head Start Center (behind Dunham's at the Eastwood Mall). Free screenings will include: Ages birth-6, developmental, speech, hearing, and dental; ages 1-6, vision and lead; all ages, 911 simulation training, fingerprinting and photo ID, immunizations (must have shot record) and Head Start registration (must have shot record). Heart surgery seminar
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Nicholas Cavarocchi, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon and medical director of cardiac surgery at St. Elizabeth Health Center, will speak at a seminar on open-heart surgery at 7 p.m. Wednesday. There is no charge, but registration is requested by calling (330) 480-3151 or (877) 700-4647.
Skin-cancer screening
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department will conduct free skin-cancer screenings for county residents Aug. 5 at the health department, 7360 state Route 45. County residents with a suspicious lesion, such as a sore that will not heal, a mole or wart that has changed, a change in pigmentation, or any other skin abnormality, may schedule an appointment by calling (330) 424-0272.
Anesthesia accreditation
YOUNGSTOWN -- The St. Elizabeth School for Nurse Anesthetists was reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA) for a 10-year period. COA is responsible for establishing the standards and policies for anesthesia educational programs for nurses. St. Elizabeth operates a two-year program, affiliated with Youngstown State University, that provides a graduate-level curriculum leading to a master of science degree in nursing.
