CANFIELD -- Learn to play a handcrafted instrument at a mountain dulcimer workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at Loghurst, the historical property on Boardman-Canfield Road. Alice Ann Whitehill and Cindy Davis of Dulcimer Players of the Upper Ohio Valley will discuss tuning, strumming, transposition, and melody and harmony playing on the instrument, which dates to the late 1700s. Wilmington art festival
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Three artists will appear with their work at Village Gallery, 115 E. Neshannock Ave., during the first New Wilmington Community Arts & amp; Heritage Festival. Robert Griffing will personalize his 18th century woodland Indian art from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8. J.G. McGill will demonstrate pastel portraiture from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9. Drum clinic by Purdie
WILLOWICK, Ohio -- Drummer Bernard Purdie, who has played on thousands of albums -- including those by Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Isaac Hayes, B.B. 'From the Top' taping
PITTSBURGH -- An installment of the public radio program "From the Top" will be recorded in front of an audience at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in Heinz Hall. "From the Top," with host Christopher O'Riley, features young classical musicians who are not yet of college age.
