Best guests come bearing hostess gifts

WASHINGTON POST
We love the host/hostess with the most/mostest.
Whether it's a backyard barbecue or a week-long sleepover, they always know how to fill our tummies, plan our days and change our sheets. And as the perfect guest, we must show our gratitude by cleaning up after ourselves, penning a lovely thank-you note and always bringing a gift.
And while your all-American potato salad is tasty, sometimes it's wise to skip the side and substitute a citronella set that looks like ketchup, mustard and relish. Nothing says thanks for inviting me like condiment candles!
"No matter what the occasion -- from barbecue to elegant dinner party -- giving a hostess gift always makes you the most welcome guest. Think beyond the typical bottle of wine when arriving at a party, and give a gift that will truly make an impression," says Irene Chen of iomoi, a stationery, gifts and online correspondence company.
A gift can say thanks or thanks! You can spend $60 or $3. It's the thought. Really. Show your host that you know he loves daisy-shaped cookies or jelly beans. You'll be the guest who's the best!
