YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County officials are warning senior citizens to beware of contractors overcharging for cleanup projects in the wake of recent flood and tornado damage in the area.
Authorities have received several complaints of senior homeowners who have been charged exorbitant fees for services. They suggest consumers check the names of prospective contractors by making a call to the Better Business Bureau and the Home Builders Association before hiring anyone.
Homeowners should also call police if a service provider becomes belligerent or overly assertive.
