The city's board of control handled these contracts and spending items Thursday:
Paid $7,459 to Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home for the funeral of police officer Michael Hartzell, who was killed on duty in late April. The state Bureau of Workers' Compensation will reimburse the city $5,000.Signed a development agreement with D & amp;L Energy. The city will provide a $29,475 loan that will turn into a grant if the company remains operating for three years, and a 10-year 75-percent tax abatement. The company is to build an addition to its Salt Springs Road location and hire six full-time workers.Paid severance of $13,250 for John Marifote, a construction foreman in the street department who retired May 30.Paid severance of $8,729 for Richard Hermann, a garage mechanic in the police department who retired June 27.Paid severance of $3,958 for Samuel Roth, a painter in the street department who died May 21.Paid K.T. Lyden $7,074 for emergency repair of a sanitary sewer main and lateral connection on East Dewey Avenue.Paid K.T. Lyden $3,017 for emergency repair of a catch basin on Bissell Avenue.Approved buying two vehicles for the fire department with 90,000 or more miles for $11,650 from the state surplus list.Paid Emch Spring $3,739 for emergency repair of a suspension ladder on a firetruck.Approved a $24,494 contract with MS Consultants for preliminary design of a new water tank on Kirk Road.
