Mahoning, Trumbull to get state funding

COLUMBUS -- Gov. Bob Taft has declared a state of emergency in six Northeast Ohio counties, including Mahoning and Trumbull, after the area was hit hard by rainstorms and a tornado.
Taft made the designation after visiting damaged areas in Youngstown and Hudson Thursday, said Orest Holubec, Taft's spokesman.
The emergency designation permits the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to coordinate relief and allows the areas to be eligible for state relief funding, Holubec said.
Relentless storms this week in Northeast Ohio have left at least three dead, flooded many people out of their homes and caused millions of dollars' worth of property damage.
