GIRARD SCHOOLS Board takes action



The board of education took the following action Wednesday:
Agreed to place a 5.9-mill operating levy on the November general election ballot. Superintendent Marty Santillo said the district has not approved a levy since 1988. Each mill generates about $140,000. The district, which is in fiscal caution, is expected to be $300,000 in the red at the end of this year and $1.4 million in debt by the end of 2004.Accepted $6,475 from district treasurer Mark Bello that he was paid as assistant football and baseball coach. He will volunteer as a football coach this year.Approved supplemental contracts for several advisers and coaches.Approved Jim Tedesco, board member Jamie DeVore, Tony Canterino and Shawn Guerriero as volunteer assistant football coaches.Accepted the resignations of Mike Menendez and Andy Saxon as assistant varsity football coaches.Approved several people as volunteers to the high school robotics team.
