DeFrances 50th marked by vow renewal, dinner



XSTRUTHERS -- Mr. and Mrs. Rocco DeFrances, Garfield Street, observed their 50th wedding anniversary during a family dinner July 26 at Chudda Bings Restaurant in Canfield.
Preceding the dinner, the couple renewed their marriage vows during Mass at 5:30 p.m. St. Nicholas Church.
Hostesses and host for the dinner were the honorees' daughter, Barbara DeFrances of Boardman, and son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Eileen DeFrances of Barrington, Ill.
The former Rita Capuzello and Mr. DeFrances were married July 25, 1953, at St. Edward Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. DeFrances, a pastoral minister at St. Nicholas Church, owned and operated American Shoe Service in New Middletown until 1978. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society, the Altar and Rosary Society at the church, the Diocesan Association of Pastoral Ministers and Directors of Religious Education.
Retiring in 1988, Mr. DeFrances was a workshop specialist with Mahoning Adult Services Co. in Boardman. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the European Theater during World War II and is a member of the American Legion.
Mr. and Mrs. DeFrances are members of St. Nicholas.
The family circle includes six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
