NEW YORK -- Andy Pettitte tied a career high by winning his seventh straight decision as the New York Yankees beat Baltimore to stop the Orioles' six-game winning streak. Pettitte (12-6) improved to 16-4 against the Orioles and handed them their first loss since the All-Star break, allowing one run and four hits in seven innings. Hideki Matsui hit a go-ahead single in a three-run sixth off Rick Helling (6-7), and Raul Mondesi homered to lead off the seventh.
Red Sox 10, Devil Rays 4
BOSTON -- Trot Nixon homered twice, including a grand slam in a seven-run seventh. Nixon went 3-for-4 and tied his career high with five RBIs. Tim Wakefield (7-5) allowed four runs and six hits in seven innings. He gave up solo homers to Travis Lee and Toby Hall in the seventh, falling behind 4-3 before Boston rallied for its fifth straight win overall and 15th and 17 games in Fenway Park.
Royals 8, Twins 3
MINNEAPOLIS -- Aaron Guiel homered twice, and Carlos Beltran, Raul Ibanez and Angel Berroa also connected. The AL Central-leading Royals improved to 8-3 against the Twins this year and dropped the defending division champions 61 /2 games back. Minnesota is in third place, also trailing Chicago. Guiel hit a pair of solo shots, the first multihomer game of his major league career. He has eight homers this season, including six in July.
White Sox 7, Blue Jays 6
TORONTO -- Magglio Ordonez hit a tying two-run double in the ninth inning and Toronto reliever Dan Reichert hit Paul Konerko with a pitch to score the go-ahead run. Rick White (1-1) got the last out of the eighth, and Damaso Marte got two outs for his seventh save. Juan Acevedo (1-4) was the loser.
Rangers 12, Angels 9
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Shane Spencer, who had been 0-for-10 since Cleveland traded him last week, hit his first homer for Texas and drove in four runs as the Rangers rallied from a 4-0, first-inning deficit. Alex Rodriguez also homered for the Rangers, and Doug Glanville had two RBI singles among his four hits. Erasmo Ramirez (1-0) pitched 22/3 shutout innings in relief for his first career victory, and Francisco Cordero pitched the ninth for his third save.
Mariners 6, Athletics 0
SEATTLE -- Ryan Franklin pitched a two-hitter and Seattle capitalized on six walks by Barry Zito to beat Oakland. Randy Winn hit a solo home run and John Olerud drove in four runs for the Mariners, who stretched their lead over Oakland in the AL West to five games. Franklin (7-8) finally got some offensive support. His teammates have scored a total of 12 runs in his eight losses this season, but the Mariners delivered for him and posted their major league-leading 11th shutout.

Marlins 5, Braves 4, 12 innings
ATLANTA -- Mike Mordecai hit his first homer in nearly two years, a 12th-inning drive that gave Florida a victory over Atlanta after the Marlins squandered a three-run lead in the ninth. Mordecai, batting just .192, entered as a pinch-runner in the 10th and came through at the plate two innings later. The former Braves player hit a 3-1 pitch off Trey Hodges (3-1) that barely cleared the left-field wall.
Expos 5, Mets 2
MONTREAL -- Javier Vazquez struck out 11 in eight innings and Ron Calloway hit a two-run single in a five-run first, leading Montreal to a win over New York. Vazquez (8-6), who pitched his first complete game of the season in Philadelphia on Friday, allowed five hits and two runs. Montreal ended a four-game losing streak after building a 5-0 lead against Jae Weong Seo (5-7) with one out in the first.
Phillies 3, Cubs 0
CHICAGO -- Randy Wolf pitched a four-hitter, and Jim Thome hit a two-run homer for his 1,000th and 1,001st career RBIs to lead Philadelphia past the Chicago Cubs. Wolf (11-5) struck out four and walked three, earning his sixth career shutout despite three Philadelphia errors. It was his second shutout this season -- he pitched a five-hitter against Houston on May 10. Wolf threw 136 pitches and 87 strikes.
Astros 3, Brewers 2, 11 innings
MILWAUKEE -- Lance Berkman homered in the top of the 11th to lead Houston over Milwaukee. Berkman homered with two outs off Dan Kolb (0-1) for his 20th home run. It's Berkman's fourth consecutive year with at least 20. Billy Wagner pitched the 11th for his 30th save in 33 chances, helping the Astros to their 12th win in the last 14 games. Mike Gallo (1-0) pitched to two batters in the 10th for the victory.
Giants 7, Diamondbacks 1
SAN FRANCISCO -- Barry Bonds hit his 645th homer, and fill-in starter Jim Brower pitched six scoreless innings as the Giants won their seventh straight. Bonds tied Willie McCovey's San Francisco Giants career record with a two-run shot to right off reliever Stephen Randolph in the sixth. It was Bonds' 469th homer with the franchise, which moved to California from New York in 1958.
Rockies 8, Dodgers 3
LOS ANGELES -- Darren Oliver won for the fifth time in six decisions and doubled home two runs as Colorado beat Los Angeles. Oliver (8-6) allowed two runs and four hits over seven innings, while striking out nine and walking one. Kazuhisa Ishii (9-4) hit three batters in the fourth inning of his first loss at Dodger Stadium in 11 starts this season. Oliver hit a two-run double with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Cardinals 8, Padres 4
SAN DIEGO -- Edgar Renteria had three hits and drove in two runs as the St. Louis Cardinals got 17 hits in a victory over the San Diego Padres. Tino Martinez had three hits and scored three runs, Kerry Robinson added three hits and Scott Rolen had two RBIs for St. Louis. Every hitter in the Cardinals' starting lineup had at least one hit. San Diego's Phil Nevin returned from the 60-day disabled list and went 1-for-3 with a walk.
