2 hospitalized after crash
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A 75-year-old male driver and his 16-year-old female passenger are at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh after an accident in which the car they occupied left state Route 65 in Shenango Township, Lawrence County, at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Traveling at a high rate of speed, the southbound car went onto the right berm, passed several vehicles and hit a mailbox, telephone pole and earthen embankment before flipping over, state police said.
Joseph Moore Jr. and Marquea Moore, both of New Castle, suffered moderate injuries, police said.
She has a compound fracture to her arm, and he has a dislocated shoulder and broken ribs.
Contraband charge
CLEVELAND -- A federal grand jury has indicted an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Elkton on a charge of possessing contraband.
Shelby D. Tuczynski, 21, is charged with possessing less than 1 ounce of suspected marijuana while being held in the prison Jan. 28, 2002. The case was investigated by the FBI.
The U.S. attorney's news release did not state the initial charge for which Tuczynski was serving time or where he lived before being imprisoned.
East Palestine festival
EAST PALESTINE -- The East Palestine park festival will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the city park.
The event includes arts and crafts, antiques a farmers market, food, cloggers and classic cars.
Celtic Festival Sunday
LEETONIA -- The fifth annual Celtic Festival will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Wick Park.
There will be Celtic music and dance.
Vendors will offer Scottish, Irish and Welsh items and ethnic foods.
The day's last event will be a kilted mile race at 5:30 p.m.
Youngstown carjacking
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 34-year-old Warren woman told police that she was dragged from her car while stopped at a traffic light on the city's East Side and assaulted before her attacker drove off in her black 2003 Jeep Liberty.
The woman said she stopped at the intersection of McGuffey Road and Cassius Avenue about 4:05 a.m. Wednesday and a man ran up to her car, opened the driver's door, grabbed her right wrist and yanked her out of the driver's seat.
The man bit her on the wrist before driving away, the police report states.
Shotgun found in estate
YOUNGSTOWN -- An attorney handling an estate discovered a sawed-off shotgun among the woman's belongings and turned it over to police.
A report says an attorney inventorying the belongings found the 12-gauge shotgun at the Rutledge Drive home and delivered it to police Wednesday.
Wine tasting benefit
NILES -- P.J. Snappers seafood restaurant, 5125 Youngstown-Warren Road, is having a wine tasting from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday to benefit Second Harvest Foodbank.
The event also will feature jazz music by The Big Daddy Revue and SounDoctrine, finger foods and a Chinese auction.
Second Harvest is a nonprofit organization that provides food to hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Second Harvest will receive $10 from every ticket sold for the event.

Girard St. Rose festival
GIRARD -- The annual St. Rose Church Family Festival will be from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday on the church grounds.
Rides, food, raffles and bingo will be held each night.
Music will be presented each evening by Champagne, the Del Rezek Orchestra and Al Hreno.
There will be no Mass at 4 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Saturday, but a polka Mass will combine the intentions for both at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the church grounds.
The main raffle drawings will take place at 11:30 p.m. Sunday for a $3,000 first prize, a $500 second prize and a $200 third prize.
Baskets for the parish festival basket raffle have been on display after all Masses at the church in the rectory parking lot.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the festival.
The drawings will be held at the festival's conclusion Sunday.
