Official: Work continues at Crestview stadium

COLUMBIANA -- Although progress at the Crestview High School stadium has slowed because of rain, the work will be completed in time for the high school football season, Superintendent John Dilling said.
He said one preseason football game scheduled at home has been switched to an away game.
The $500,000 project includes new aluminum bleachers, new restrooms and an all-weather track.
Dilling said the bleachers replace wooden ones that constantly needed repairs.
The new bleachers will seat about 1,100 fans on the home side of the field and about 600 on the visitors' side, he said. That compares with about 800 on the home side and 400 on the visitors' side with the old bleachers.
Dilling said the old wooden and iron bleachers were 40 years old and board members considered them a safety hazard.
The new bleachers are aluminum, set in concrete, and are designed so people cannot fall through them. The old bleachers were open underneath and that also was a safety concern of the board, he added.
The district is paying for the project from its permanent improvement fund.
