Air base to lose 1 plane

Air base to lose 1 plane
VIENNA -- The 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station was notified Wednesday it will lose one of its 16 C-130 aircraft sometime in the next year. Capt. Brent Davis, airlift wing spokesman, said the order came from a realignment and management move.
The station has a large number of newer aircraft, and the plane most likely will be transferred to a base with fewer and older aircraft, he said. The new station was not announced.
The order also cut the plane's crew of seven mechanics and 25 part-time reservists from the unit, but Davis said whether the unit actually loses any personnel will depend on a number of factors when the plane is transferred.
The loss of the plane is not connected to an ongoing review of bases that may be closed, Davis added.

High-grass limit set
COITSVILLE -- The township zoning board recommended Wednesday that trustees set a limit of 10 inches for high grass in residential areas. If accepted, the limit will go into effect in September.
