SLIPPERY ROCK Boy killed when bike, vehicle crash



SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- A 12-year-old boy riding a bicycle died of injuries he suffered in a head-on collision with a motor vehicle Tuesday afternoon on Shaffer Road near Hell's Hollow.
Derek Lee Crisman, of RD 1, Ellwood City, who had worn a bicycle helmet, was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m. in Ellwood City Hospital.
Derek was riding south on Shaffer Road with three other youths when he was hit around 3:45 p.m. and dragged about 100 feet by the northbound motor vehicle, which had just crossed a one-lane bridge, Pennsylvania State Police said.
State police declined to release the name of the 16-year-old girl who was driving the motor vehicle. She was not injured.
Two local residents tended to Derek at the accident scene before an ambulance arrived, state police said.
