First Place profit improves

WARREN -- First Place Financial Corp., holding company for First Place Bank, reported earnings of $16.7 million, or $1.29 per share, in its fiscal 2003, up from $16.2 million, or $1.16 per share in fiscal 2002.
Its fourth-quarter profit was $5 million, or 39 cents per share, compared to $3.3 million, or 24 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.
