Police arrest 2 in armed dog-snatching

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Two robbers snatched a Rottweiler out on a walk with its owner on East Leasure Avenue.
Police arrested Brian Lee Payne, 19, of East Lincoln Avenue and Heidi Miller, 18, of Barkett Avenue about 1 a.m. Sunday at the corner of East Leasure Avenue and Mercer Street with the missing Rottweiler in their car.
Police said the dog's owner was walking the pooch on East Leasure Avenue when the man and woman got out of a car and demanded the dog. The dog owner told police the man pointed a gun at him and asked him if he was willing to die for his dog.
Police charged Payne with robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, theft, recklessly endangering another person, and making terroristic threats. Miller faces criminal conspiracy and theft charges.
