NY-PENN LEAGUE Struggling Scrappers drop seventh straight

The Jammers won two straight for the first time this season.
JAMESTOWN, Pa. -- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers couldn't derail their longest losing streak of the season as they fell 8-3 to the Jamestown Jammers Saturday at Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park.
It was the first time this season that the Jammers (7-25) were able to put together two straight wins in the New York-Penn League, while the Scrappers (15-17) lost for the seventh time in a row.
The two teams will conclude their Pinckney Division three-game series today at 4:05 p.m.
The Scrappers got off to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Clint Chauncey led off with a single. Anthony Lunetta doubled putting runners at second and third. Jesus Colmenter singled home Chaundey, Luneta moved to third and scored on Mike Conroy's sacrifice fly.
Jamestown had gone 32 games before winning two straight. The Jammers tied the score in the bottom of the third inning.
The Jammers went ahead 3-2 in the fourth inning as Spencer Wyman hit a double and scored on a single by Dusty Young.
The Jammers scored three runs in the fifth inning as Xavier Arroyo walked. Lee Mitchell and Pablo Sosa hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. Arroyo scored on Ryan Bear infield single. Mitchell scored on a sacrifice fly and Soso scored on Justin Mattison's single.
The Jammers added a run in each the seventh and eighth innings.
The Scrappers got their final run as Ryan Mulhern led off the ninth inning with a home run.
Conroy sparked the Scrappers with a pair of singles, while Sosa went 4-for-4 for the Jammers and Young was 3-for-4.
