Astro Falcons wallop Snappers; Livi is eliminated



STRUTHERS -- In the sixth round of the Connie Mack state tournament, Astro Falcons of the Class B League continued unbeaten, while Fielder's Choice eliminated Livi Steel Saturday in games played at Cene Park.
Astro Falcons 12, Lake Erie Snappers 4
With the scored tied 4-4, Astro Falcons pushed across seven runs in the fourth inning, then added another run in the fifth to sideline Lake Erie Snappers.
Frank Turocy and Dan Bertolini led Astro Falcons with three hits apiece. Dave Yost worked an inning and a third in relief and allowed only one hit to pick up the win.
Fielders Choice 5, Livi Steel 3
Fielders Choice, working its way out of the losers bracket, has now beaten three Class B League teams to stay alive.
With the contest tied at 3 all, Fielder's choice scored two runs in the sixth inning to hand Livi Steel its first loss.
Jeff Suvak pitched four innings and gave up two hits, with five strikeouts to pick up the win.
Jay Yorty worked three innings for Livi Steel, allowed four hits and two runs to take the loss.
Ohio Lightning 9, Livi Steel 8
Livi Steel then lost to Ohio Lightning 9-8 and was eliminated.
Ohio Lightning built a 9-1 lead by the end of the fourth inning, but Livi Steal rallied for two runs in the fifth, then just fell short with a five-run surnge in the seventh.
Sean Lucas collected a pair of hits for Livi Steel, which included a triple.
