SHARON-FARRELL March to take a stand to say goodbye to crime, drugs

FARRELL, Pa. -- The ERASE anti-drug coalition and Sharon/Farrell Weed & amp; Seed are having a "Going Away Party" on Aug. 5.
It's being held in conjunction with the annual National Night Out event, but it isn't Weed or Seed or Endorsed Resistance of All Substance Abuse Everywhere (ERASE) that is going away.
The party is to say goodbye to neighborhood crime and drugs, said Olive Brown, ERASE executive director.
A similar march last year drew about 80 participants who walked along a 30-minute route along the Farrell-Sharon border.
This year's walk will begin at 6 p.m. at the Quinby Street Resource Center at 335 Quinby St. in Sharon and travel south on Spearman Avenue to George Street on the Farrell border, east on George Street to Wallis Avenue, south on Wallis to Idaho Street and west on Idaho to Spearman where participants will join a test service of the Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ.
Brown said organizers are asking church pastors and their congregations, especially the young people, to take a stand and make a statement by participating in the march.
