AMERICAN LEAGUE Everett delivers White Sox a 4-3 win over Indians

Chicago won its fourth in a row while Cleveland lost its sixth straight.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Carl Everett is just trying to fit in and help the White Sox win.
Everett hit a two-run go-ahead single and Joe Crede homered as Chicago defeated the Cleveland Indians 4-3 Monday night.
The hit was Everett's biggest since being traded to Chicago from Texas on July 1, but it wasn't his most memorable moment with the White Sox -- that goes to a two-run homer in the 12th inning by Frank Thomas on July 2, Everett's first game.
"No, my best moment is when Frank battled the one at-bat, like 10 pitches and then went deep to win the game," Everett said. "That's my best moment. I don't ever have any selfish moments. If you want any selfish moments from me, you will never get them out of my mouth."
On a streak
The White Sox have won four straight and moved within six games of Kansas City in the AL Central. The Indians have lost six in a row.
"I'm a firm believer you control your own," Everett said. "As long as you are winning, it doesn't matter what those other teams do."
Mike Porzio (1-1) got his first career win as a starter, allowing three runs and five hits over five innings. He was 2-2 in 47 relief appearances before making his first start July 12, a loss at Cleveland.
"He gave us a chance to win and that's the most important thing," White Sox manager Jerry Manuel said. "When your fifth starter goes out and leaves with the lead, you've got to be happy with that."
The White Sox bullpen pitched four scoreless innings. Rick White struck out four in two innings and Tom Gordon pitched the eighth and the ninth for his fifth save in nine chances.
Tribe had chance
The Indians had a chance to tie it in the eighth when Milton Bradley hit a two-out single off Gordon and then tried to score from first on Ryan Ludwick's blooper to right field. Magglio Ordonez slid for the ball, but was unable to catch it, and Bradley was waved home by third base coach Joel Skinner. Ordonez easily threw out Bradley at the plate to end the inning.
"It's a tough call in that situation because you are really blinded by the body," Indians manager Eric Wedge. "When a guy dives like that, it is not like he was diving head first, he slid after it. When you can't see the ball, you got to take a chance and send him with two outs."
Porzio gave up four consecutive hits with two outs in the third inning. Coco Crisp hit a single to right and scored on Casey Blake's double. Jody Gerut drove in Blake on a single to right and Bradley doubled, scoring Gerut from first, to make it 3-1.
Chisox move ahead
Cleveland starter Brian Tallet walked Tony Graffanino to lead off the bottom of the third and gave up a single to Roberto Alomar. One out later, Ordonez doubled down the right-field line scoring Graffanino, and Everett followed with a two-out, two-run single, scoring Alomar and Ordonez to give the White Sox a 4-3 lead.
Crede hit his 10th home run of the season in the second inning off Tallet. The White Sox have homered in 11 straight home games.
Tallet (0-2) gave up four runs and five hits in 42/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
"We need our guy to go out there and shut them down. He just wasn't able to command the fastball like he is capable of," Wedge said.
