FESTIVALS
XA Serbian Day picnic will be held Sunday at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird St., Youngstown. There will be refreshments, games and music. Traditional foods will include chicken paprikash beginning at 11:30 a.m., roast lamb and pork at noon, and grilled cevap dinners at 4:30 p.m. Also offered will be homemade doughnuts and pastries.
XThe 60th annual Slovak Jednota Picnic will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthias School Hall, 2800 Shady Run Road, Youngstown, following a polka Mass at 11 a.m. in the St. Matthias Church. In addition to Slovak food, there will be a Chinese auction and entertainment from 6 to 10.
FUND-RAISERS
XCamelot Center Therapeutic Riding Program will sponsor a trip to Mountaineer Gaming Resort on July 31. The bus will leave from Rancho Villa Commons, Elm Road, Warren, at 5:30 p.m., and departure from the resort for the return trip will be at 10:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per person with each receiving a $5 coin voucher. Advance reservations are needed by calling (330) 898-5036. Proceeds will benefit the center, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding to physically and mentally challenged individuals.
XA Krysten E. Studer Memorial Foundation dance and Chinese auction will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 9 at St. Patrick Church Hall in Hubbard as a benefit for students and families in the Hubbard area. There will be a 50-50 raffle, food and beverages. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students, and can be purchased at any barber shop in Hubbard. SALES
XCortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 2. Nonmembers may rent spaces for sale tables for $10, and the fee for members is 10 percent of sales. For more information call (330) 638-6728. Chicken barbecue lunches and dinners will be available.
XQueen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will sponsor a rummage sale from 1 to 7 p.m. July 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 1 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at the church hall. There will be a bake sale and food available.
