T-shirt may draw blood from youths
NEW YORK (AP) -- A new American Red Cross T-shirt asks, "Are you my type?" Blood type, of course.
The fitted white shirt with red and black letters, designed by Nicole Miller, a member of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet, is the signature item of the charity's Save A Life Tour 2003 campaign.
"One of the main objectives of this campaign is to attract a younger donor base and new donors," said Marsha J. Evans, president and CEO of the Red Cross, in a statement.
The Save a Life Tour features two convoys visiting town and cities to educate the public about the importance of regular blood donation. One of the vehicles is a "mobile museum" with interactive displays to teach visitors about the need for blood.
More than 345 communities will host Save a Life tour events throughout the summer and early fall. It seeks 3 million blood donations nationwide to renew the nation's blood supply.
The Nicole Miller shirt will be available to visitors at various stops on the tour.
