AKRON -- Five winners from the greater Youngstown area will be competing in the 66th All-American Soap Box Derby, which is bringing 430 contestants from the United States and several other countries here July 26.
The following are competing as winners of the Greater Youngstown Area Soap Box Derby: Dan Borosky, 12, of Boardman; Johanna Kuebler, 11, of Berlin Center; Chris Kuhaneck, 13, of Salem; Jenny Rodway, 14, of Boardman; and Jeff Davis, 16, of Austintown.
Events leading up to the July 26 championship races begin Monday with a series of welcoming ceremonies, picnics, field trips, car adjustments, weigh-ins, test runs and open houses that run throughout the week.
Crack cocaine charge
CLEVELAND -- A federal grand jury has indicted a Youngstown man on a charge that he distributed about 5 grams (less than one-fifth of an ounce) of crack cocaine. Charged was Nathan Haynes, 24, of West Judson Avenue.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
