JEFFERSON -- An English Royal Mail Coach, the carriage that Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret rode in as children, has been added to the collection at Victorian Perambulator Museum of Jefferson, 26 E. Cedar St., off state Route 46. The coach was built during the 1920s and was pulled by miniature horses. A formal presentation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the museum, where more than 200 carriages and baby buggies are displayed. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays during summer, or by appointment. Call (440) 576-9588.
Family Pioneer Day
CANFIELD -- Long before these high tech days, entertainment consisted of storytelling, wagon rides, sack races and square dances. Experience all of this and more at Family Pioneer Day at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at Haus Orchards and Cider Mill, 6742 W. Calla Road. The Ohio Bicentennial-year event will include a hot dog and corn roast, American Indian dancers, elderberry cookdown, blacksmithing and pottery demonstrations. Banjo Band to perform
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pittsburgh Banjo Band will give its 13th annual performance at New Castle Playhouse at 7 p.m. Aug. 9. Pittsburgh Banjo Club has more than 100 members who play banjo, trumpet, tuba and bass and who strive to preserve banjo music. Tickets are $5. To place orders, call (724) 657-9369 weekdays. Boardmanite wins Emmy
Christopher Rutushin, son of Larry and Pat Rutushin of Boardman, recently received a news Emmy Award from Pacific Southwest chapter of National Television Academy. Rutushin, a photojournalist at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, won for a human interest piece on a former convict who rebuilt his life and became a successful chef at Caesar's Palace. A former employee of WFMJ Channel 21, Rutushin is a graduate of Boardman High School and Ohio University.
Valley performer at Point
SANDUSKY -- Wendy Wills, 20, of Youngstown, holds the spotlight in the "America Rocks" live show this summer at Cedar Point amusement park. Wills, who also has performed at Youngstown Playhouse, has a solo in "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World." The 25-minute salute to rock and country music can be seen in Red Garter Saloon through Sept. 1.
