More aggressive Rockers beat Lynx

Cleveland made 14-of-16 free throws to maintain its lead.
CLEVELAND (AP) -- Penny Taylor heard the words and got the message.
She scored 16 points to lead the Cleveland Rockers to a 70-61 victory over Minnesota on Thursday night, snapping the Lynx's three-game winning streak.
Taylor scored 12 points in a 25-8 run early in the second half to give Cleveland a 50-41 lead.
"We got kind of a push from the coaching staff at halftime," Taylor said. "So we came out really aggressive. We got a lot of transition points."
The Rockers maintained the lead late by making 14 of their last 16 free throws.
"We had to put them at the line in order to try and get back into the game," said Lynx coach Suzie McConnell Serio.
Difference
Cleveland made 25 of 32 free throws. The Lynx were 12-of-13 at the line.
Katie Smith, who entered the game leading the WNBA in scoring at 20.1 points, had 22 points for Minnesota. It was the sixth consecutive game in which she scored at least 20, though she was just seven for 20 from the field.
"I didn't feel off, it was just the pace of the game," Smith said. "We had opportunities, but didn't get in any groove. Give Cleveland credit for that."
Rockers coach Dan Hughes said he had mixed emotions about winning against McConnell Serio, a former Rockers guard making her first appearance in Cleveland since becoming Minnesota's coach this season.
"You should feel good winning a game," Hughes said. "I don't feel good. I root for Suzie.
"I am pleased that we played a lot harder in the second half. We were more assertive and that was evident by how many free throws we shot."
Leaders
Lucienne Berthieu scored a career-high 15 points and Chasity Melvin and Deanna Jackson had 11 apiece for Cleveland.
Tamika Williams scored 12 points and Svetlana Abrosimova added 10 points for the Lynx. Abrosimova left with a strained right hamstring with 7:06 to play and did not return.
