COOKBOOK Recipe for success

Name: "More Favorite Recipes from Poland Women's Club."
Co-chairwomen: Leslie Williams and Beth Lowe. Their committee consists of Carol Morris, Sandra Smith and Vivian Young.
Background: Williams said that the committee sifted through some 1,200 recipes submitted by members and ended up with 798 for the book. She explained that committee members read other local cookbooks so that the Poland book wouldn't duplicate recipes.
Content: The eight categories are appetizers and beverages, soups and salads, vegetables and side dishes, main dishes, breads and rolls, cookies and candy, desserts and "this and that," which, Williams said, is a catch-all category including entries such as pickles, sauces and sandwiches. She noted that the recipes range from simple to gourmet and include some 200 main-dish recipes and almost 200 recipes for the sweet tooth. If you're looking for a new way to serve potatoes, the book offers 29 potato recipes.
Features: The three-ring, binder-style cookbook has 409 pages. The format, Williams said, makes it easy to take out recipes to copy or add others. Helpful hints and an alphabetized index are also included.
Available: The cookbook can be purchased at Giant Eagle, Cherishables, Duncan's and Wittenauer's, all in Poland, or from any club member.
To order: Send your name and address with a check for $21 to: 2939 Palisades Drive, Poland, Ohio 44514.
