Award-winning photographic skills developed by gardener

YOUNGSTOWN -- The top award for slide photography was captured by Rodney J. Toth of Hubbard, a member of the Men's Garden Club of Youngstown, during a national convention held by The Gardeners of America-Men's Garden Club of America.
The convention took place the last week in June in Albany, N.Y., where Toth won the Best of Show award with his photo of an oyster mushroom, Pleurotus Oystreatus, and also was named the first runner-up with his dahlia slide, Kenona Majestic.
The panel of judges selected Toth's entries from more than 1,000 submitted from throughout the country.
The awards were presented by William J. Carney of Poland, vice president of the sponsoring organization and also a member of the Youngstown garden club.
