Corvino namedmarketing director
YOUNGSTOWN -- Brian Corvino has been named director of athletic marketing and promotions at Youngstown State.
Corvino, a native of Poland, returns to YSU after serving the past two years in the same role at Bowling Green. Previously, Corvino spent two years as an assistant marketing director at YSU.

Vans Scholarship
WARREN -- Eleni Halkias of Warren and Thomas Barth of Youngstown are recipients of the Keith Vens Memorial Tennis scholarships.
Halkias will attend Mount Union College and Barth, Youngstown State.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Softball standout Kimberly Moore, a graduate of Howland High, will continue her career at La Roche College.
A third baseman, She was a first team Metro Athletic Conference selection.
Malito-Barneswin scramble
HUBBARD -- Tom Malito and Paul Barnes won a two-man scramble with 6-under par at Doughton Golf Course.
Joel Brennan and Joel Fox placed second at 1-under.
Second-team winners were Bo & amp; Dave Urban at 7-over, while Joe Cole & amp; Chris Zografedies were next at 9-over.
Cyclists are second
The Mahoning Valley Cycling Team captured second place in the Tour of West Deer bicycle race. The four race series was contested in southwestern Pennsylvania. Team MVC cyclists Sal Ponzio, of Girard, and James Yankush, of North Lima, led the team with fourth and fifth overall placings, respectively.
Walter-Schell have mixed doubles lead
CANFIELD -- Tracy Walter and Charles Schell rolled 1,452 to take the lead in 31st annual Mar-Hill Mixed Doubles Bowling Tournament at Amron Lanes.
Fran Taylor and Ray Heaven are second with 1,431. Carol Kozbial and Carl Hurd are in third with 1,419. Annie Bartoletti and Lloyd Hays are fourth with 1,412.
Buick Scramble
BOARDMAN -- The Buick Scramble will conduct a local championship at Mill Creek Park Golf Course Saturday.
The tournament is open to four-person teams with certified USGA handicap indexes.

EAGLE, Colo. -- The county district attorney said he had not decided whether to file criminal charges against Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman.
District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said he probably won't announce his decision before Friday or early next week.
