YOUNGSTOWN GRIP officers seize gun and make other arrests
Others were arrested on charges including drugtrafficking and driving under suspension.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Another gun was taken off the streets early today by officers working the Gun Reduction Interdiction Project.
GRIP officers made these arrests late Thursday and early today:
UKarrim Stanford, 24, of West LaClede Avenue, arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and driving under suspension. Police spotted Stanford's car stopped against traffic on the wrong side of McBride Street on the city's East Side at 1 a.m. today. Officers seized a .40-caliber handgun and magazine with nine live rounds.
UAndre Brooks, 28, of Glenwood Avenue, loud music and aggravated trafficking in marijuana. He was pulled over at 8:40 p.m. Thursday on Chicago Avenue for loud music. Police confiscated nine packaged-for-sale bags of suspected marijuana and two bags of suspected marijuana from his pants.
UKeith Hicks, 36, of Cohasset Drive, forgery and receiving stolen property. Hicks was arrested at home at 9:30 p.m. Thursday on warrants issued July 3.
UJoseph Jordan, 23, of Jean Street, driving under suspension. Jordan was stopped on East Avondale Avenue at 9 p.m. Thursday for having a cracked windshield.
UMaurice Holland, 28, of Forestview Avenue, DUS. Holland was stopped at 1:50 a.m. today on Woodcrest Avenue when police saw that he had no front license plate and no license plate light.
UMatthew D. Pierce, 19, of East Myrtle Avenue, DUS and stop-sign violation. Pierce was pulled over at 8:30 p.m. Thursday when he failed to stop at the blinking red light at West Myrtle and Hillman Street.
