Burn 2, Revolution 1
FOXBORO, Mass. -- Ron Cerritos and Shaver Thomas scored early goals as Dallas held off New England. Cerritos scored in the fourth minute, knocking home a rebound inside the box. It was his third goal of the season. Thomas made it 2-0 in the 13th minute on a header off a cross from the right wing by Brad Davis. It was the first career MLS goal for Thomas. New England closed the deficit in the final minute of the first half when Joe-Max Moore scored his third goal of the season on a pass from Joe Franchino. The Revolution continued to pressure Dallas throughout the second half, but were unable to solve goalkeeper D.J. Countess. Moore hit the crossbar with a direct kick in the 52nd minute. Brian Kamler's point-blank shot was denied in the 53rd minute, and Franchino's direct kick was stopped in the 73rd. Moore also had five second-half corner kick attempts. Dallas played short-handed over the final 23 minutes after Thomas was issued his second yellow card. The Burn improved to 3-8-4, snapping a four-game winless streak and a six-game road winless streak. New England, which had beaten Dallas in their past four meetings, fell to 5-4-6.

Beat 1, Charge 0
VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Conny Pohlers scored the only goal of the game and goalkeeper Briana Scurry recorded her league-leading sixth shutout. Scurry also won her league-leading eighth game as Atlanta (9-3-4) won its third straight and fourth in the last five as the Beat increased its first-place lead over idle Boston to six points. Goalie Hope Solo made her third start of the season for Philadelphia (3-9-4), which dropped its third match in a row and saw its winless streak extended to six games. Pohlers gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute when she knocked in a loose ball from just inside the penalty area for her fourth goal of the season. The score came moments after Atlanta's Cindy Parlow appeared to be offsides, but play was allowed to continue. Scurry, notched her 19th career shutout and fourth against Philadelphia by stopping all six shots she faced, including three by leading scorer Marinette Pichon, who saw Scurry make a diving save on her shot in the 82nd minute. Pichon returned to action for the Charge after missing two games due to a bruised sciatic nerve in her lower back. Philadelphia was unlucky on two scoring chances in the first half as Melanie Hoffmann's shot hit the crossbar in the fourth minute before Anne Makinen later struck the left post in the 39th minute. The contest was the first of a five-game road trip for Atlanta, which plays at Boston this Saturday. The Beat won't play a home match until the final game of the regular season.
Spirit 2, Freedom 1
SAN DIEGO -- Julie Fleeting had a goal and an assist as San Diego snapped a three-game losing streak. With the win, the Spirit (6-4-6) moved into third place with 24 points, one more than the idle New York Power. The Spirit's win was especially sweet since it came against Washington (6-6-3), which swept three games against San Diego last season by a combined score of 8-0. The crowd of 6,733 was the Spirit's largest home attendance ever. Christine Latham opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a shot that deflected off the crossbar for her fifth goal of the season. Fleeting made it 2-0 when she scored her team-high eighth goal in the 35th minute. Sandra Minnert recorded her first goal of the season in the 78th minute for Washington, but Spirit goalkeeper Jenni Branam punched away Meredith Beard's shot in the 89th minute to preserve the lead.
