Mahoning Valley Historical Society elects trustees during annual meeting



YOUNGSTOWN -- The grounds at the Arms Family Museum of Local History on Wick Avenue provided the setting June 17 for the 128th annual meeting of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
Dr. William J. Cleary Jr. presided at the meeting that followed an hors d'oeuvres dinner in the museum galleries.
A highlight of the business session was the election of these eight trustees: Karen H. Abrams, George D. Bellen, Josh Butler, the Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II, J. David Sabine, Janice L. Tattrie, Gere Weller and John H. Yerian Jr. The trustees will serve three-year terms.
Other board members are Emily M. Powers and Edward J. Reese, who were re-elected to three-year terms.
Also approved by the membership was an operating budget of $537,302 for the fiscal year of July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004.
History
Founded in 1875, the society collects and preserves local materials of the past and develops resources entrusted to the organization to support its purposes.
The society operates the Arms Family Museum of Local History and the MVHS Archival Library in Youngstown, and manages the Business and Media Archives of the Mahoning Valley in partnership with Youngstown State University and shareholders of the former WKBN Broadcasting Corp.
