United Communityincreases earnings
YOUNGSTOWN -- United Community Financial Corp. earned $7 million, or 22 cents a share, in the second quarter, compared with $6 million, or 19 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. United Community said net interest income fell by $605,000, while the provision for loan losses increased by $1.8 million. Noninterest income, however, increased by $4.7 million, mainly from gains on the sale of loans. United Community is the parent company of Home Savings and Loan Co. and Butler Wick Corp.
Stow franchisee in listing
STOW -- Hallrich, a Stow-based company that owns Pizza Hut restaurants in the region, has made a Top 200 ranking of the largest franchisees in the nation.
The Restaurant Finance Monitor, an industry newsletter, ranked the franchisees by revenue. Hallrich ranked 106th with $59.8 million in revenue from 87 restaurants.
Poland woman must payin workers' comp case
COLUMBUS -- A Poland woman was ordered to pay restitution to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation after pleading guilty to one count of workers' compensation fraud, the bureau said. Mary Pat Riter must pay $20,000 for continuing to collect benefits for a permanent disability after she had returned to work at a flower shop, it said.
