MERCER COUNTY Repairs to I-79 likely to cause traffic delays, PennDOT warns

MERCER, Pa. -- Motorists are advised that there will be traffic lane restrictions on three sections of Interstate 79 in Mercer County as repairs are made to the road this week.
The first is in the north and southbound lanes between the Lawrence County Line to north of the Grove City Exit (Exit 113). The second is in the north and southbound lanes both north and south of the Interstate 80/I-79 interchange. The third is in the north and southbound lanes north and south of the exit for Greenville and Sandy Lake (Exit 130).
These areas will have only one lane open to traffic. Lane closures will vary between the driving (right side) lane and passing (left side) lane.
A fourth work area will be on the ramps connecting I-79 and I-80. Traffic flow will be maintained while work is being done on the ramps, however.
The work may cause some traffic delays, especially between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., which could cause traffic to back up approaching the work area.
Work is expected to continue on portions of I-79 in the county through Nov. 1 and motorists should expect congestion and delays. They also should seek alternate routes when possible.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reminds motorists traveling through the construction area to slow down and to be alert for changing conditions.
