Track athletescompete in W. Va.
CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Matt Zakrajsek of Howland and the Austintown Community Track Club placed first in javelin (147 feet 6 inches) and third in the discus throw (160 feet 5 inches) at this weekend's USATF Regional Track and Field Championships.
Athletes placing in the top three in each division advance to the 2003 USATF Jr. Olympic National Championships in Miami from July 30-Aug. 3.
Michelle Rossio of Mineral Ridge took first in the discus (142 feet 5 inches) and third in shot (35 feet 6 inches).
George Fetchko of Howland placed first in the discus throw (172 feet 9 inches) and fourth in javelin (124 feet).
Steve Burkholder of Champion secured second place in the shot put (48 feet 4 inches) and fifth in the discus (138 feet 5 inches).
Alexandra Rathburn of Berlin Center captured second place in the shot put (35 feet 6 inches) and third in the discus (91 feet 4 inches).
Mary Dean, Kent, placed second in the javelin (82 feet), fifth in shot put (30 feet) and seventh in discus (70 feet 3 inches).
The ACTC team is coached by Ed Wilson.

Aeros win
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Tyler Minges homered and drove in six runs to lift the Akron Aeros to an 8-4 win over the Altoona Curve on Sunday.
Tied at 4 in the eighth inning, Corey Smith doubled to drive in a run and Minges followed with a three-run homer to put the game away.
Minges also had a two-run single in the fourth and an RBI single in the sixth.
The Curve built a two-run lead off Aeros starter Derrick Van Dusen. Shawn Garret singled in Chan Perry in the first inning and Shaun Skrehot drove in another run in the third with a ground out.

Boston Breakersdefeat Charge
BOSTON -- Dagny Mellgren had her first career hat trick as the Boston Breakers beat the Philadelphia Charge 3-1 Sunday night, extending their unbeaten streak to four games.
Boston (7-4-4) overcome the absence of Kristine Lilly, Angela Hucles and Kate Sobrero, who were with the U.S. national team for its 1-0 win over Brazil in New Orleans on Sunday.
Mellgren's hat trick was the first in franchise history. She opened the scoring in the 16th minute, breaking free behind Philadelphia's back line and slipping a rolling shot past Charge keeper Melissa Moore.
Mellgren doubled Boston's lead with a header in the 45th minute, and her shot from 20 feet out made it 3-0 in the 65th.
Darci Borski scored her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute for the Charge (3-8-4).
Ginepri winsfirst ATP title
NEWPORT, R.I. -- Fourth-seeded Robby Ginepri beat eighth-seeded Jurgen Melzer 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1 at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships on Sunday to win his first ATP title.
After dropping his first set of the week in the tiebreaker, Ginepri took charge in the final set with breaks in the fourth and sixth games.
Ginepri went up 40-love in the final game. He lost one point and then wrapped it up when Melzer hit a backhand volley wide.
"Being up 5-1, I didn't think I was going to lose the match," Ginepri said. "The first title, trying to serve it out, there's not a lot of guys that wouldn't be nervous."
Stackhousearrested
ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. -- Washington Wizards guard Jerry Stackhouse was arrested and charged with assault Sunday after he was accused of grabbing a woman at a house he was renting.
Stackhouse was told by a female employee of the property manager that he and his guests had to leave around 2:30 p.m., but he apparently believed he had rented it until Monday, according to a police statement. He attempted to grab the lease from the woman, but grabbed her instead, police said.

MONTREAL -- Home plate umpire Marty Foster sustained a concussion and had to be taken off on a stretcher after he was hit on the mask near his forehead by a pitch from Montreal's Britt Reames on Sunday.

Isinbayevasets record
GATESHEAD, England -- Russian Yelena Isinbayeva set a world record in the pole vault Sunday, jumping 15 feet, 9 3/4 inches outdoors at the Norwich Union Super League to break the mark held by Olympic champion Stacy Dragila.
Isinbayeva broke the record on her second attempt. Dragila, an American, set the old mark of 15-9 1/4 in June 2001.
