SANDLOT BASEBALL Line Drive jells for 2-1 series lead



STRUTHERS -- The Line Drive baseball team took a 2-1 lead in the Class B League championship series Friday by defeating Rondinelli 10-5 at Cene Park.
Rondinelli led 4-1 after the first inning, but couldn't hold back Line Drive's offense, which was paced John Zizzo, Chris Tremblay and Jonathan Habuda with two hits each.
Tremblay also drove in three runs, while Justin Byler and Habuda had two RBIs each.
Vasili Pahoulis earned the victory for Line Drive. He got relief help from John Mang in the fifth inning.
Jason Metzka suffered the loss for Rondinelli, which was led offensively by John Sciullo with two hits and Scott Bender with two RBIs.
The teams are playing a best-of-5 series.
Akron A's 5, Astro Falcons 3
Phil Partin went 3-for-4 with a triple Saturday to lead Akron A's over Astro Falcons.
Mike Schaefer allowed two earned runs in five innings in the victory for Akron A's, and Tyler Roberson recorded the save.
For Astro Falcons, Dom Marchionda had two hits. Despite allowing two earned runs in seven innings, Joe Irwin suffered the loss.
