RAY SWANSON | Keystoner Pittsburgh's Dan Marino pays visit to PNC Park

Dan Marino dropped by Pittsburgh's PNC Park recently to watch the Pirates go at it with the Cincinnati Reds.
He's as cordial now as he was with the Pitt Panthers and the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. He's devoting his summer months to "playing a little softball, hitting the links and enjoying the days with my family."
Marino was in town for the 4th of July and to celebrate his grandmother's birthday. She was turning 90 over the holiday weekend.
"She was always a fan of the late Willie Stargell. She just loved to see him play," Marino said.
Signing autographs for Bucco fans, Marino dropped in to visit with Pirate broadcasters Lanky Frattare and Steve Blass. The two were in right-center field for the telecast as they got a new look at the Pirates in action.
New perspective
It was an entirely new perspective for the two who normally broadcast from the press box high above home plate.
Marino said he had played in Mario Lemieux's golf tourney recently and was fairly well pleased with his performance.
He spoke highly of the showing of Michael Jordan.
"He played extremely well and I think he finished second or third in the event," Marino said.
In speaking about Lemieux, the big question in Pittsburgh these days is whether Lemieux will return to the ice again next season. Guess we'll just have to wait and see on that one.
Anyway, it was great to see Marino who looks as if he could take a few snaps from center at any moment.
