YOUNGSTOWN -- Donald E. White, 46, of South Lundy Lane, Salem, who police said has 11 convictions for driving under suspension, was charged again with DUS Saturday afternoon.
Officers checking the Ohio Department of Natural Resources parking lot and woods east of West Avenue spotted feet hanging out of a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer as they approached. White told police he has no valid license and acknowledged that he drove his wife's Blazer from Salem to Youngstown. White and his female passenger told police they bought crack and went into the park area to smoke it, reports show.
Work at Routes 46 and 82
HOWLAND -- There will be various lane restrictions near the intersection of state Routes 46 and 82 beginning today as ODOT crews work to add additional turn lanes and widen ramps.
The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to do additional work on state Route 46 this summer, including paving from state Route 82 to state Route 5 and from the ABD Railroad crossing to the Niles city line.
Work on a bridge on state Route 46 north of North River Road has been completed and the bridge is now open, officials say.
Driver dies after collision
MECCA -- A 19-year-old Vienna Township man was killed when the car he was driving was struck by a Chevrolet Suburban.
Ohio State Highway Patrol reports state that Christopher Gless was traveling south on Hoagland Blackstub Road around 11:20 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by the Suburban being driven by Michael Kassander, 36, of state Route 46, Cortland. Gless was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he later died.
Rebecca Miller, 23, of North Project, Warren, and Jared S. Koniowski, 18, of Concord Avenue, Youngstown, passengers in Gless' car, were treated at a local hospital. Kassander declined medical treatment, reports state.
The crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
