COLUMBIANA CORNER Expansion skates along at Columbiana library
Excitement is gaining momentum at the Columbiana Public Library as a yearlong, $1 million construction project nears completion.
Adding nearly 6,000 square feet to the 11,400 square feet will mean some adjustments for both patrons and staff.
When asked how they'd handle all the new space, one staff member noted, "I think we're going to need roller skates."
Gunning for trouble?
Police investigated a report that several young men were handling a handgun in a Salem church parking lot.
By the time police arrived, the men had left in a vehicle, which police eventually tracked down.
It turned out the "gun" witnesses had seen was actually a lighter shaped like a firearm.
Police warned the youths about the danger of brandishing such an object in public.
