Barring injury, Clemens won't make team

CHICAGO (AP) -- Roger Clemens is not likely to be added to Tuesday night's All-Star game unless a starting pitcher already on the American League roster gets hurt.
Clemens, the only six-time Cy Young Award winner, plans to retire after this season.
The 40-year-old right-hander, who last month won his 300th game and got his 4,000th strikeout, was bypassed in player voting and wasn't selected by AL manager Mike Scioscia with one of his picks.
Many of Clemens' New York Yankees' teammates have said the eight-time All-Star should be added.
"It has not been discussed," Commissioner Bud Selig said Saturday. "I'm a great admirer of Roger Clemens. He certainly is a Hall of Famer who will go in on the first ballot and has achieved a great deal, but we have to respect the voting process."
Six starting pitchers are on the AL roster: Roy Halladay (Toronto), Esteban Loaiza (Chicago White Sox), Jamie Moyer (Seattle), Mark Mulder (Oakland), C.C. Sabathia (Cleveland) and Barry Zito (Oakland).
Oakland manager Ken Macha said Saturday that Clemens should have been picked, just for the example he's set with his work ethic.
