ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jose Lima pitched seven scoreless innings to win his fifth consecutive start, and Carlos Beltran had four hits as the Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers 8-2 Saturday night.
Beltran also drove in three runs, and Michael Tucker added a pair of RBIs for the Royals, who extended their lead to 6 1/2 games over the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.
Kansas City's Aaron Guiel went 3-for-5 and hit his fourth home run of the season.
Lima (5-0) allowed four hits -- all singles -- and struck out three. The right-hander is the first Royal to win five straight starts since Paul Byrd did it July 25-Aug. 16, 2001.
Lima allowed three singles in the second, then gave up just one hit in his final five innings.
Doug Glanville ended Kansas City's shutout bid when he homered leading off the eighth against Jason Grimsley.

Red Sox 4, Tigers 2, 11 innings
DETROIT -- Johnny Damon homered and hit a go-ahead RBI single in the 11th inning as Boston won its fifth straight.
Pedro Martinez pitched seven sharp innings and Trot Nixon also homered for the Red Sox, who moved within one game of the first-place New York Yankees in the AL East. Boston has made up three games in the past five days.
Martinez left leading 2-1, only to see the Boston bullpen cost him a win for the fifth time this season. Alan Embree gave up a two-out RBI double to Carlos Pena that tied it in the eighth.
But the Red Sox bounced back in the 11th. Kevin Millar doubled off Fernando Rodney (0-1) with one out and went to third on a passed ball. After Bill Mueller walked, Millar scored on Damon's single. Mueller, who went to third on the hit, scored on Jason Varitek's sacrifice fly to deep center.
Todd Jones (2-0) struck out three in a scoreless 10th inning for the victory. Byung-Hyun Kim got three outs for his fifth save in five chances.
Martinez allowed a leadoff triple to Alex Sanchez, then retired 15 Tigers in a row until Matt Walbeck doubled to start the sixth.
Martinez allowed four hits, struck out eight, walked one and threw two wild pitches.
Detroit starter Matt Roney struck out a career-high seven in 6 2/3 innings. He gave up one run and four hits.
Damon, who missed the previous two games with a bruised left hip, broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the fifth when he hit his seventh homer of the season.
