St. Elizabeth employee arrested and charged in June shooting
YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man was arrested at St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he works in radiology, charged with the shooting last month of a 29-year-old woman.
A Mahoning County deputy sheriff served a felonious assault warrant on Corey J. Floyd of Detroit Avenue, at about 3:10 p.m. Friday, reports say.
Floyd, 24, is accused in the shooting of Lawanda A. West, who was shot in the stomach and breast June 29 outside her apartment in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
City police on Friday also arrested 28-year-old Henry "Stank G" Floyd of West Judson Avenue on a felonious assault warrant, reports show. Police officials said Saturday that they did not know if the men or their arrests were related.
Henry Floyd was arrested at his home at about 1:50 p.m. Police confiscated from the home an assault-type rifle and a magazine holding 28 rounds, a pistol and two loaded magazines, several boxes of ammunition and two pistol boxes. The suspect said the weapons were purchased legally and that he had documentation.
