SANDLOTS Line Drive knots series with rout



Lion Baseball Club, Storm, Wooster and All-Pro Freight also registered wins.
STRUTHERS -- Line Drive posted an 11-2 victory over Rondinelli on Friday at Cene Park, evening the Class B League championship series at one game apiece.
The game had been suspended earlier in the week due to inclement weather.
Line Drive led 7-5 in the third game of the best-of-5 series Friday night, but it was not completed in time for this edition.
In the 11-2 win, Line Drive built an 8-0 lead in the first three innings and Rondinelli wasn't able to make up the difference.
Justin Byler hit a home run and single, while Marc Sikora hit a double and two singles to spark Line Drive, which collected 16 hits.
Rondinelli was held to three hits by four Line Drive pitchers, with Vasili Pahoulis working the first three inning to pick up the win.
Mickey Mantle
Lion Baseball Club went four extra innings as it edged Becdir 6-5 Friday in the Mickey Mantle (13-15 year old) state baseball tournament at Cene Park.
Becdir battled back from a 4-2 deficit to tie the score 4-all in the seventh inning, and it led 5-4 in the top of the ninth.
Lion Baseball Club scored once in the bottom of the ninth to tie it, then tallied the winning run in the 10th.
Lou Kopachy paced Becdir with three singles. Brian Balkovec had four hits for the winners.
Storm 5, Livi Steel 4
Storm, behind by a run, scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to prevail.
Relief pitcher Matt Dole of Storm worked three shutout innings, allowed four hits and struck out one.
Justin Herberger, Dan Morrison and Mike Conroy each had two hits for Livi Steel. Kevin Rockman collected three hits for Storm.
In other games, Wooster topped Line Drive 8-5 and All Pro Freight downed Wolf Construction 9-3.
