MERCER, PA. Watershed meetings are open to the public



MERCER, Pa. -- The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy wants the public's help in formulating a Shenango River Watershed Conservation Plan.
The organization is having a series of public meetings seeking input on watershed issues and to help prioritize items for the conservation plan.
Land, water and biological issues as well as recreational and historical resources will be the topics of conversation.
Once a plan is completed, it will be placed on the PA Rivers Registry, which will open funding avenues for projects identified in the plan such as stormwater management, riverbank restoration, sewer system maintenance and development.
Plan development is being funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resource's Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund.
Refreshments will be provided at the meetings, which will run from 7 to 9 p.m. The dates and locations are:
UJuly 21: Mercer County Cooperative Extension Office on U.S. Route 19 north of Mercer.
UJuly 22: Artman Elementary School on Pa. Route 18 in Hermitage.
UJuly 23: Neshannock High School on Mitchell Road, Lawrence County.
UJuly 24: Hempfield Volunteer Fire Department Station One, Greenville.
UJuly 30: North Shenango Township Community Center in Espyville.
