An officer was injured when he was dragged by the suspect's vehicle.
LIBERTY -- A 32-year-old man faces a number of charges after a two-state chase Wednesday night.
John E. Jankowski, who gave police Erie, Pa., and Cleveland addresses, is charged by Liberty police with felonious assault, failure to comply, resisting arrest and criminal damaging.
Pennsylvania State Police at Mercer charged Jankowski with recklessly endangering another person. He is being held in the Mercer County Jail.
According to a police report, Liberty patrol officer G.T. Bednar spotted a truck going through the front yard of the township administration building on state Route 304. Bednar reported stopping the driver and a records check found he had several arrest warrants against him.
The officer reported that Jankowski jumped into his truck and reached into the console. When Bednar tried to stop him, the truck sped off. Bednar suffered bruises when dragged eight to 10 feet.
Tires blown out
Bednar, joined by other police jurisdictions, chased Jankowski along state Route 304 into Girard and onto U.S. Route 422 near Eastwood Mall. The truck turned around, went back to Girard and onto Interstate 80, where it struck the back of a tractor-trailer.
State police used stop strips to blow out the truck tires, and the truck came to a stop near the Mercer exit.
Police reported Jankowski has warrants charging him with theft, forgery, larceny, possession of stolen goods and altering a vehicle registration number.
