FUND-RAISER J.B. deSaulles golf outing set Aug. 1 at Pine Lakes



HUBBARD -- The sixth annual J.B. deSaulles Memorial Golf Outing is planned Aug. 1 at Pine Lakes Golf Course. Rural/Metro Ambulance employees sponsor the event, and proceeds benefit Tod Children's Hospital.
A firefighter and emergency medical technician, J.B. deSaulles joined the Boardman Fire Department in 1955. He became assistant chief in 1961 and served until his retirement in 1995. Mr. deSaulles also served as director of safety for Rural/Metro Ambulance. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1176 and also was involved with the American Red Cross, Youngstown Humane Society and American Diabetes Association.

The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and registration will get under way at 8. The fee is $65 per golfer and $260 per foursome and includes a continental breakfast, lunch at the turn, steak dinner, refreshments throughout the day, 18 holes of golf with a cart and prizes.
There will be prizes for the longest drive, longest putt, a 50-50 ball drop (weather permitting) and a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on a par 3. Only one par 3 will be eligible for the cash prize as determined by the Pine Lakes golf pro. All other par 3 holes will be eligible for hole-in-one prizes including a desktop computer, set of irons and round-trip domestic airline tickets for two.
